Boat Trip

 

Today, both schools went on a boat trip along the Thames for more learning activities.  Westminster Cathedral School were picked up at Lambeth Pier and were entertained by Cornelius, an actor in the role of a docker born during World War Two.

At St Katherine's Pier we were joined by Riverside School and a big crowd of former dockers and their families.

On the way to the Thames Barrier, Brian from Museum of London Docklands gave a guided tour of the Thames from the Pool of London to the Barrier highlighting many old wharves and docks.

On the return journey the children were split into small groups and were able to quiz the former dockworkers to find out as much as they could about their lives and work.
